Jocelyn Yow Elected Mayor
Meet IGNITE Advocacy Director Jocelyn Yow, the youngest woman of color to serve as mayor in a California city!
Jocelyn was elected to the Eastvale City Council in 2018 at the age of 23 and then elected as mayor in 2020 at the age of 25—a position she was re-elected to again in 2025. A California native, she has called Eastvale "home" since 2011 and is proud to serve her hometown. She brings to these positions prior political experience, having served as a district representative for California State Senate, as an immigration specialist and field representative for US House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, and as a constituent service manager for Congressman Gil Cisneros.
While being the youngest woman of color to serve as mayor in a California city is newsworthy, it has become part of a bold pattern, as Jocelyn was also elected as the youngest student body president during her tenure at Norco College. She's using her experience breaking barriers to inspire the next generation of leaders: in her elected position, as an adjunct professor at Norco College, and as IGNITE’s Advocacy Director. At IGNITE, Jocelyn oversees the organization’s legislative priorities and programming for young women in middle schools, high schools, and colleges and universities across the country. Growing up in a working-class immigrant family, she is intimately familiar with the compounding barriers that prevent many underrepresented communities from even considering campaigning, but she's living proof of what's possible when young women are given the opportunity to lead.
