IGNITE's Statement on the Supreme Court's Affirmative Action Ruling

In response to today's Supreme Court decision curtailing Affirmative Action Sara Guillermo, Chief Executive of IGNITE, America’s largest, most diverse organization devoted to young women’s political leadership, said:

“We can’t allow family wealth, legacy, and power to remain the most decisive factors in admission to some of our most elite colleges. A vast majority of Americans disagree with today’s Supreme Court Decision, which is a blow to representative democracy. It adds more barriers for people of color to get to college and shrinks the pool to build representative and diverse leadership in America. Despite the ruling, our higher education organizations must continue to deliver on their promises for more equity and access.”
