Ignite Welcomes Yasmeen Metellus to Its Board
IGNITE is thrilled to announce Yasmeen Metellus as the newest member of our Board of Directors. Not only is Yasmeen an IGNITE alumni having served as a Dr. Anne Moses Fellow, she brings to our Board a wealth of experience in law, civic education, and women’s rights.
Yasmeen graduated from Columbia University with a B.A. in Political Science and recently earned her J.D. from NYU Law. As an IGNITE Fellow serving in Miami and later in New York, Yasmeen made significant strides empowering young women to become political leaders in their communities. Currently, she is an associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell. Outside of her professional achievements, Yasmeen is an avid traveler and book enthusiast.
Anne Morriss and Sharon Harris, Co-Chairs of IGNITE’s Board of Directors, shared their enthusiasm, “We are excited to have Yasmeen join our Board as IGNITE continues to grow and innovate. Her first-hand knowledge of our work, coupled with her legal expertise and commitment to advancing equity, will be instrumental in guiding the organization forward.”
IGNITE’s CEO Sara Guillermo, added, “Yasmeen has already demonstrated an incredible dedication to IGNITE and our mission, bringing new ideas and a passion for pushing the needle forward when it comes to gender equity. I first met Yasmeen when she joined IGNITE as a Fellow. Her hands-on experience with our programs and the relationships she built with members of our community across the board are necessary elements for success as a leader of IGNITE. We look forward to her contributions and to seeing her continue to inspire the next generation of women leaders.”
