Meet Nicole Johnson, IGNITE's Director of High School Programs

Nicole Johnson has more than 25 years of working in and with organizations dedicated to serving the community. She has served as a Director, Program Manager, Community Organizer, Community Educator and Youth Development Coordinator, throughout her career.

Her professional commitment to the community began with completing her Bachelor of Science in Educational Policies and Community Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She followed that up with a Master of Education Degree from Cardinal Stritch University, also located in her hometown of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

There have been many points of pride throughout her career. Nicole has served on several community-based organization boards and considers herself a “Change Agent.” Seeing a gap within the education landscape, in 2011, Nicole developed and operated Milwaukee Excel High School (MEHS). MEHS, a non-instrumentality Charter School, provided a unique support system for students involved in the criminal justice system to continue their education. Nicole’s passion for community education also led her to join the Milwaukee Area Technical College Faculty, where she taught the Intro to Alcohol and Addiction Course in the Human Services Program.
