Melanie earned her bachelor's degree in International Affairs and Comparative Literature and Intercultural Studies from the University of Georgia (UGA), where she is now pursuing a Master of Public Administration. Melanie believes that lasting, sustainable change depends on understanding governance from multiple vantage points. That conviction has shaped how she approaches her own work: empirical research on federal, state, and local urban policy law and advocacy as captain of the nationally ranked UGA mock trial team and strategic security policy as a Security Leadership Fellow at the Center for International Trade and Security.

Bridging the gap between academic theory and grassroots action, Melanie has served in a leadership role with the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Political Alliance, a student-led, nonpartisan group focused on civic engagement. Through this position, she has led voter registration efforts, canvassed local communities, and hosted cross-cultural advocacy panels. Melanie hopes to keep learning from the perspectives she encounters and to help build a new generation of civically engaged advocates working toward sustainable, equitable change.
