At IGNITE the Capitol, you’ll gain the tools, training, and confidence to harness your political power, shape policy agendas, and advocate for impactful legislation in your state. Together, we’ll meet with legislators and legislative aides at the Ohio Statehouse, where you’ll have the opportunity to share your concerns and vision with your elected leaders. During this advocacy day, you will:
  • Learn the importance of engaging with your legislators.
  • Discover how to use effective advocacy strategies and actively participate in the legislative process.
  • Support state-specific bills that advance women's rights, voting rights, and civic education through meetings with lawmakers.

What is IGNITE?

IGNITE is a national movement of young cis and trans women, as well as nonbinary and gender expansive people, ready and eager to become the next generation of civic and political leaders. Since our inception in 2010, IGNITE has become the largest, most diverse political leadership organization in America mobilizing young women with sustained community-based training and support to unleash their civic and political power. We train our participants to make a long-lasting impact on their communities.

Who attends IGNITE the Capitol events?

IGNITE the Capitol events are designed to educate young women, from as early as middle school to college and beyond, on their civic power and political potential as advocates for state and national legislation.

is IGNITE affiliated with a political party? 

As a nonpartisan nonprofit organization, IGNITE programs and events operate independently of party affiliation. All activities, workshops, and content are tailored to support attendees through a nonpartisan lens at they discover the tools and skills they need to mobilize their communities to take action.
