You have the power to make a difference. Did you know that state policies and decisions made by your state's lawmakers have a huge impact on your life and on your community? Join IGNITE, NY Birth Control Access Project and other young leaders from across the state for a full day of advocacy at the New York state capitol. You'll learn how to amplify your voice, advocate for the issues you care most about and make a real impact. Together, we'll fight for a better tomorrow.  

The general registration deadline for this FREE event is January 29, 2024. The travel assistance deadline is January 24, 2024.

Time: 11 AM - 4 PM 

At IGNITE the Capitol, we'll provide you with the tools, training and confidence to use your political power to shape policy agenda and champion bills in your state. Then, we’ll meet with legislators and legislative aides at the State Capitol as you voice your concerns and visions to your elected leaders. During our advocacy day, you'll:

  • Learn why it’s important to contact your legislators  
  • Discover how to advocate effectively and participate in the lawmaking process 
  • Champion state-specific bills as you meet with legislators (an overview of the bills is available below)

Support Campus with Emergency Contraception Act

A. 4091 / S. 4400 - Requires each institution within the State & City University of New York to have at least one vending machine making emergency contraception available for purchase.

NY Birth Control Access Project

NYBCAP centers their work on birth control access and focuses their resources on training reproductive health advocates. These young adults learn, develop, and exercise the skills necessary to advocate for legislation, policy change, and in areas of direct impact.
