Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? IGNITE and PERIOD. are excited to present the IGNITE & PERIOD. Organizing Academy: Activate Your Advocacy Bootcamp! This free and fully virtual bootcamp will provide you with the tools and resources to become a powerful changemaker and community leader.
By attending this bootcamp, you will:
- Learn the ins and outs of the legislative process
- Build a network of politically ambitious individuals
- Discover how to turn your idea into action
- Gain mentorship as you launch your policy career
Join us for multiple courses ranging from organizing tactics to messaging and communications. At the end of this bootcamp, IGNITE will assist in matching you with an internship with a legislator. You will also receive an official certificate of completion if you attend all courses and pass the skills assessment for each course.

March 11: Mobilizing and Organizing Tactics
Strategic organizing plays a key role in addressing community issues and furthering legislative solutions. In this course, we’ll provide you with the necessary tools to think critically and take the action required to effectively organize in your community. You’ll also create a Field and Digital community action plan that will help you target audiences/decision makers, engage stakeholders and fundraise.
March 18: Writing a Policy and Understanding the Political Process
In this course, you’ll learn how to develop your problem statement into a policy and gain insight into the political process. We’ll also share an overview of community advocacy strategies that will help you advocate for your bill more effectively.
March 25: How to Advocate for Your Policy, Campaign Communication, and Navigating Politics
Join us as we dive deeper into the different ways you can advocate for your policy and get a bill passed. You’ll learn what a policy brief is and the role it plays in legislative advocacy. We’ll also discuss the importance of a communications and media strategy, and provide you with the tools to create a basic communications strategy for your policy.
April 1: Strategic Considerations, Policy Implementation and Evaluation, Closing
In this course, learn how you can develop basic policy alternatives for situations where your policy might be cut. You’ll also discover what happens after a bill is passed., what next steps to take and gain an overview of policy implementation/evaluation. At the end, we’ll identify ways for you to stay connected with your cohort.
