August 2: How to Navigate the Political Process in the US

You'll learn how to navigate the U.S. political system for driving meaningful change. You'll gain practical knowledge of how policies are made and learn strategic approaches to influence decision-makers within various levels of government. Through interactive lessons and activities, you'll develop a comprehensive Field and Digital Community Action Plan to identify key audiences, mobilize stakeholders, and effectively advocate for your cause.

August 9:: From Campus to Capitol: How to Write a Policy and Navigate the Political Process

Transform your problem statement into a well-developed policy, with a focus on issues impacting college campuses today. You’ll also gain valuable insights into the political process, including how to engage effectively with legislators, campus decision-makers, and other stakeholders. In light of the current political climate—including attacks on DEI, academic freedom, and student rights—we’ll explore strategies for organizing within and beyond campus. Additionally, we’ll provide an overview of community and campus-based advocacy tactics to help you build power and advocate for your policy more effectively.

August 16:: How to Advocate for Your Policy and Communicate Your Campaign: Staying Safe While Going Public

Join us to learn the essentials of creating a policy brief and understand its critical role in legislative advocacy. Moreover, we will emphasize the importance of a comprehensive communications and media strategy, equipping you with the tools to develop a basic communications plan for your policy campaign. In today’s increasingly digital and high-risk advocacy landscape, we’ll also cover key digital safety practices to help you protect yourself, your team, and your message.

August 23:: How to Strategize, Implement and Evaluate Your Campaign

In this course, learn how you can develop basic policy alternatives for situations where your policy might be cut. You’ll also discover what happens after a bill is passed, what next steps to take and gain an overview of policy implementation/evaluation. At the end, we’ll identify ways for you to stay connected with your cohort.

Note: Though this program will focus on advancing menstrual equity in the United States, the tools and expertise provided can be used across social justice and political spaces nationwide.

Video recordings of each session will be available for anyone who registers. The certification work can be completed in your own time by the certification deadline. Participants who receive certification will be celebrated in the graduation ceremony.
