Do you want to make a difference in your community? IGNITE & PERIOD. are here to help! Join us for the IGNITE & PERIOD. Organizing Academy: Activate Your Advocacy Bootcamp. This free and fully virtual bootcamp will provide you with the tools and resources to become a powerful changemaker and community leader.
By attending this bootcamp, you'll:
- Learn the ins and outs of the legislative process
- Join a network of politically ambitious individuals
- Discover how to turn your idea into action
- Gain mentorship as you launch your policy career
At the end of this bootcamp, IGNITE will assist in matching you with an internship with a legislator. You will also receive an official certificate of completion if you attend all courses and pass the skills assessment for each course.
Bootcamp courses:
All courses will take place from 10 - 11:30 AM PT/1 - 2:30 PM ET except for the Graduation Ceremony. Registration closes on 3/9 at 10 AM PT.
- March 2: How to Mobilize and Organize an Effective Campaign
- March 9: How to Write a Policy and Navigate the Political Process
- March 16: How to Advocate for Your Policy and Communicate Your Campaign
- March 23: How to Strategize, Implement and Evaluate Your Campaign
- December 7: Graduation Ceremony (10 - 11 AM PT/1 - 2 PM ET)

Note: Though this program will focus on advancing menstrual equity in the United States, the tools and expertise provided can be used across social justice and political spaces nationwide.
Video recordings of each session will be available for anyone who registers. The certification work can be completed in your own time by the certification deadline. Participants who receive certification will be celebrated in the graduation ceremony.

March 2: How to Mobilize and Organize an Effective Campaign
Strategic organizing plays a key role in addressing community issues and furthering legislative solutions. In this course, we’ll provide you with the necessary tools to think critically and take the action required to effectively organize in your community. You’ll also create a Field and Digital community action plan that will help you target audiences/decision makers, engage stakeholders and fundraise.
March 9: How to Write a Policy and Navigate the Political Process
In this course, you’ll learn how to develop your problem statement into a policy and gain insight into the political process. We’ll also share an overview of community advocacy strategies that will help you advocate for your bill more effectively.
March 16: How to Advocate for Your Policy and Communicate Your Campaign
Join us as we dive deeper into the different ways you can advocate for your policy and get a bill passed. You’ll learn what a policy brief is and the role it plays in legislative advocacy. We’ll also discuss the importance of a communications and media strategy, and provide you with the tools to create a basic communications strategy for your policy.
March 23: How to Strategize, Implement and Evaluate Your Campaign
In this course, learn how you can develop basic policy alternatives for situations where your policy might be cut. You’ll also discover what happens after a bill is passed., what next steps to take and gain an overview of policy implementation/evaluation. At the end, we’ll identify ways for you to stay connected with your cohort.
