4 ways to make the most of your summer

Did you hear? It’s officially #ElectedGirlSummer! Keep reading to learn how you can make the most of your summer by staying civically and politically engaged.

Get involved with political organizations

Are you thinking of running for office one day or becoming an activist? Start or accelerate your political journey by joining organizations whose mission aligns with your own. By getting involved, you can learn more about your community, discover how to make a difference and gain access to a network of other like-minded people. You can also intern with those organizations, become a Fellow, volunteer or train with them

Become a champion for women’s rights

Advocacy is a great way to make a difference in your community. At IGNITE, we champion bills that affect the lives of women across the country, such as bills on menstrual equity, voting rights and more. You can become an advocate by using your social media to raise awareness about issues you care about. Advocacy can take time but your efforts will help create long-lasting change in your community. Plus, you can invite your friends to join you!

Prep for back-to-school

As you gear up for the start of a new semester, set aside some time to prep for back-to-school. This will save you the stress of prepping the week before the start of the new semester. As you prep, make sure to check out some of the registered student organizations on campus and think about which ones you want to join. IGNITE has College Chapters on campuses across the country. Have some fun!

The best part of summer is having the chance to relax! Don’t forget to go outside and have some fun in the sun. You can also journal while you’re outside and set your goals/intentions for yourself. Doing so every once in a while is helpful for grounding and realigning yourself. Remember, #ElectedGirlSummer is all about flexing your #PoliticalPower and part of that is knowing when to take a break.
