A new leader on the bright horizon at IGNITE

I am writing to share that I will be leaving IGNITE on June 1, 2021. It has been 10 years since I founded IGNITE. I am so proud of what we have accomplished and the work we continue to do. Together as a community we are training and mobilizing 10,000 young women a year to flex their political power as candidates, advocates, campaign team members, voters and community organizers.

My passion for political parity at every level of office in America remains as strong as it was a decade ago. I'm confident we will realize this vision in the near future.  Yet, I believe organizations need an influx of new ideas and new approaches. I know that the moment is right for IGNITE to have a CEO that reflects the community of women we propel into political leadership.

That’s why I’m thrilled that our Board of Directors has appointed our Executive Director, Sara Guillermo, to become the next CEO of IGNITE. Sara is an extraordinary leader who has helped grow IGNITE alongside me almost since the very start. The many of you who know Sara recognize that there is nobody better for this job!

It’s moments like this that we must take a breath and reflect on all we have accomplished, as young women across America meet this moment with power and conviction.

Thank you for being a part of this journey.  I look forward to seeing how our political landscape changes because of this work over the next decade.
