IGNITE is pleased to announce we’ve joined the Lone Star Parity Project Affiliate Network to work towards our shared vision of political parity.
Lone Star Parity Project is a non-partisan initiative dedicated to sharing the stories of women and femmes in Texas politics with a goal of discovering useful trends and tools that, once utilized, can ensure political parity to the state, across all levels of government.
Lone Star Parity Project was a concept crafted by founders Brooke López and Adrianna Maberry, both long-time residents of Texas.
Brooke López is a graduate from the University of Texas at Dallas and a third-year student at UNT Dallas College of Law. In her published thesis, Brooke analyzed the gap in parity for women in politics. She ran for local office in 2015. Brooke is also an alumna and long-time friend of IGNITE, working as a facilitator for IGNITE high school programs and running workshops at Young Women Run conferences.
Adrianna Maberry's interests lie in breaking down barriers in our entrenched political systems. She is looking for ways to incorporate her two passions, data and politics and has explored this intersection through her master’s program at the University of Texas at Dallas.
For just short of a decade, IGNITE has run programs in Texas for high school and college women. As a member of the Lone Star Parity Project network, IGNITE looks forward to building on this track record and expanding our impact training and empowering young Texas women and femmes to run for elected office.
