Christine Hernandez is IGNITE's Director of College Programs. She has spent over a decade as an educator focused on empowering communities at colleges, universities, and nonprofit organizations.
Her passion is in democratic engagement and electing more women into office. Christine understands the power of finding our voices and, in her work on college campuses as an administrator, has empowered young people to find theirs.
As the first in her household to go to college, Christine has made education a priority in her life and is a life-long learner. She received her bachelor's degree from California State University, Fullerton and a Master of Science in Education from the University of Pennsylvania, a graduate certificate in nonprofit management from George Mason University, and a certificate in wellness coaching from Coastline Community College.
Christine ran for office for the first time in 2020. She hopes that the experience has helped to normalize women running for office for her young daughter. Since then, her 7 year old daughter has already asked when she can start to vote. In her spare time, Christine enjoys volunteering with local community organizations.
